Brandon Babcock

I'm Brandon Babcock — a Cloud Architect with 15+ years of hands-on IT experience, and the founder of Atlas Werks LLC. Today I work full-time at Microsoft as an Azure Solution Engineer partnering with enterprise customers, and I run Atlas Werks on the side as an independent consulting and Microsoft CSP practice.

My career started in 2009 in the U.S. Marine Corps, configuring tactical networks and securing classified infrastructure in forward-deployed environments — the kind of place where "good enough" gets people killed. That's where I learned to build things to last and to document them so the next operator can take over without a phone call at 0200.

After the Marines I worked through senior network engineering and cloud engineering roles, eventually landing as a Cloud Services Architect — designing Azure landing zones, hub-and-spoke networks, hybrid identity, and the automation around them for state agencies and mid-market enterprises across the U.S.

Atlas Werks LLC exists to bring that same level of practical, production-grade engineering to teams that don't need (or want) a huge consulting firm. Architecture you can actually run. Terraform you can actually read. Licensing you can actually understand.

What I value

Build it to last

Anyone can click through a portal. I write what I build, version it, review it, and hand it off so your team owns it after I'm gone.

Plain-English clarity

If I can't explain the architecture to your CFO and your most-junior engineer in the same room, I haven't designed it well enough.

No surprises

Scope, cost, ownership, exit plan — agreed up front and revisited as we go. You should never wonder where the project stands.

Bias to ship

Pretty diagrams matter only if production runs the thing they describe. Every engagement targets something running by the end.

A note on my day job

Atlas Werks LLC is independent, and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Microsoft. I’m proud to work at Microsoft, but nothing on this site represents Microsoft, and Atlas Werks engagements are done strictly outside of and separate from my employment there. Opinions expressed here are my own.
